Privacy Policy for SurfGPT
Last updated: 27th March 2023
At SurfGPT, we are committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of our users. In this Privacy Policy, we will describe what data we collect, how we use it, and the measures we take to protect your privacy. Please read the following carefully to understand our practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.
1. What information do we collect?
SurfGPT is a client-side Chrome extension, and we do not collect any personal information from our users. The only data we collect is the license key provided by the user during the setup process, user-configured settings, generated summaries and answers, and associated URLs for caching purposes. We do not store any user browsing data or any other information.
However, please note that when SurfGPT scrapes webpage content to generate summaries and answers, the content is sent to OpenAI's APIs using your own OpenAI API key. OpenAI may have their own privacy policy, which you can review on their website.
2. How do we use your information?
The license key is used to validate your access to the SurfGPT features, while the settings data is used to personalize your SurfGPT experience. The generated summaries, answers, and associated URLs are stored locally on your device for caching purposes, allowing for quicker access to previously generated content. We do not share or sell your information with any third party for marketing or any other purposes.
3. Data storage and security
As SurfGPT is a client-side Chrome extension, all the data, including the license key, settings, generated summaries, answers, and associated URLs, are stored locally on your device. We do not have access to this data or store it on any server. We have implemented security measures to ensure that your data is protected from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
4. Third-party services
When using SurfGPT, the webpage content is sent to OpenAI's APIs for processing using your own OpenAI API key. OpenAI is a third-party service and has its own privacy policy and data handling practices. To understand how OpenAI processes and protects your data, please review their privacy policy available on the OpenAI website.
5. Changes to our Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes we make will be posted on this page, so please check back regularly to stay informed of any updates.
6. Contact us
If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our data handling practices, please contact us at arjun@technarcs.com.
By using SurfGPT, you agree to this Privacy Policy and the processing of your information in accordance with it.
